My NMSU Extension Story, Pt2 Transcript

[On screen: "What are the changes you have seen in yourself since joining Extension?"]

Skyla: The changes that I've seen in myself — I've been a lot more open to meeting new people. I did this a few times growing up, and it just makes you a lot more open-minded to change, especially livestock projects specifically. You definitely learn and grow for improvement of the better.

[On screen: "How have extensions impacted your life?"]

Jason: I think the biggest moment in my life that I saw extension impact me was when I became a state officer. It truly showed me how much the work and confidence and everything that extension has put into my life is really paying off, and it's allowed me to make so many friends and have so many amazing once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that I cannot express how grateful I am for.

[On screen: "What stood out to you about NMSU extensions?"]

Skyla: So, New Mexico State Extension — the biggest thing that stood out to me was just the community that it builds. You build friendships that will last you your whole life from across the state. It is a great youth developmental organization, and I think our state really needs that, especially because we need a lot more youth to replace all the farmers and ranchers across the state. Youth development is a huge deal, and I think that's a big thing New Mexico has that every state could kind of take from.

[On screen: "Would you recommend the NMSU extension program to other?"]

Jason: I would 100% recommend NMSU Extension to other students. It helps you develop so many leadership characteristics, helps you build confidence, a work ethic, responsibility, and make friendships that truly impact your life in so many different ways. NMSU Extension has impacted my life incredibly, and I'm so grateful for the extension program and what it does for the state of New Mexico.
