My NMSU Extension Story, Pt 1 Transcript
Hi, I'm Skyla Strain, your New Mexico State 4 livestock ambassador. I'm from Hidalgo County and I've been a part of 4-H for the last eight years.
I'm Jason Perio. I'm the New Mexico State public speaking ambassador and I'm from Valencia County. I've spent the last 10 years in 4-H. New Mexico State Extension offers so many opportunities for youth in New Mexico to learn about agriculture and get involved in agriculture. They're learning about farming, fishing, forestry, shooting sports, and so many different aspects including livestock raising. Helps youth develop hard work, amazing responsibility, and a ton of friendships that last for lifetimes.
Skyla: We are super blessed to have cooperative extension in every single county in all 33 counties across the state. I grew up in this program myself and I wouldn't be able to stand here as a state or yeah, as a state team member without this program teaching me valuable skills like leadership, communication, hard work, dedication, and responsibility.
Jason: I'm so grateful for the extension as it has helped me to grow as a public speaker and has developed my confidence, my work ethic, and has allowed me to meet new people from across the state. It's also allowed me to become the state public speaking ambassador and go to an entire another country to learn about agriculture and promote our 4-H program.
